In 1884 St. Peter's Parish
increased to include the Sacred Heart Mission, in Morris, PA, which was constructed that
year. In 1889 it received considerable flood damage and was completely destroyed by fire
in February of 1902. The present church was built on the site of the old and re-dedicated
on November 7, 1902.
Our purpose and focus is
the maintenance of the church building and grounds as a center for Eucharistic
celebration.
The annual fundraising project is held in June in conjunction with the Morris Fire
Department. (Food stand at Annual Snake Hunt; $ Raffle.) We meet on a "need to"
basis.
The number of parishioners is small, but the church draws many tourists and sports
enthusiasts who visit the area.
