TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
From the Pastor: Count Your Blessings
Two suggestions for dealing with these turbulent times spring from Jesus’ encounter with the lepers in today’s gospel passage.
1.) Count your blessings! One out of the ten who were healed came back to Jesus to say thank you. An antidote to anxiety is to pause, consider our blessings and return to Jesus in prayerful gratitude.
2.) Look for God in unexpected places and faces! The last one anyone would have considered a candidate for gratitude would be a Samaritan. God may be present to you in a person or event today that may at first seem beyond the possibility of a divine encounter. Counting our blessings and finding God in all things and people are faith-motivated postures which will serve us well in these days of uncertainty.

If human beings were convinced that we are called to live together, that it is wonderful to come to know one another, to respect and help one another, the world would be radically different. (Pope John Paul II)"THE DEATH PENALTY: CHOOSE LIFE"
The Catholic Church has always taught that human life is sacred because we are created by God and in God’s own image. Therefore, all people share the duty to protect and defend life at all times and in all circumstances. Moreover, because human life is a gift from God, all people share the duty to nurture and enhance it. Accordingly, there is a moral presumption against human beings killing other human beings.
